Is he or was he interested?

I think at the beginning he was interested in you in more than just a friend, but now it sounds pretty much like he is just interested in you as a friend. If you want proof, when you straddled his stomach and he kept on blabbing is pretty obvious. Just be friends with him. He sounds like a nice guy, really. Maybe it will turn into more in time.
