Basically left a raccoon to die?

There's a raccoon in my backyard just lying there and spazzing out like it's having a seizure. I tried to make noises and poked it with a broom to scare it away but it won't budge. I called animal control but they won't come because there has to be someone home and we all had to go to work/school. I'm feelIng bad about it. What to do?
