My boyfriend is acting distant what does it mean?

We are both 20, and go to the same college, we are also both from the same area at home. We started dating midway through this past year at college. He is such a great boyfriend, sweet, funny, notices the little things and really cares about me. A week ago was the last time I saw him, we have obviously talked since then through texts and stuff but they are so short I cant even consider them conversations. He really hasnt made any effort to talk to me and I dont know whats going on. Maybe i am looking way too far into this and overreacting but does it mean hes going to break up with me or is less interested in us as a couple or something? Give me your thoughts
