Which of these books should i read and why?

i have many many books on my shelf but im interested in these two books. the hunger games by suzanne collins and the wizard heir by cinda williams chima. ill give you the brief summaries off the backs of the books starting with the wizard heir: before he knew about the roses, sixteen-year-old jack lived an unremarkable life in the small ohio town of trinity. only the medicine he has to take daily and the thick scar above his heart set him apart from the other high schoolers. then one day jack skips his medicine. suddenly he is stronger, fiercer, and more confident than ever before. and it feels great-until he loses control of his own strength and nearly kills another player during soccer team tryouts. soon, jack learns the startling truth about himself: he is Weirlind, part of an underground society of magical people who live among us. at their helm sits the feuding houses of the red rose and the white rose, whose power is determined by playing the Game-a magical tournament in which each house sponsors a warrior to fight to the death. the winning house rules the weir. as if his bizarre heritage isn't enough, jack finds out that he's not just another member of weirlind-he's one of the last of the warriors-at a time when both houses are scouting for a player. that was the back summary of the wizard heir. as you may know, here's the summary for the hunger games for those that don't: in the ruins of a place once known as north america lies the nation of panem, a shining capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. the capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send 1 boy and 1 girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual hunger games, a fight to the death on live TV. sixteen-year-old katniss everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the games. but katniss has been close to dead before-and survival, for her, is second nature. without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. but if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love. that was the hunger games. so basically, which one should should i read and why. for EXAMPLE, if you wanted me to read the hunger games, explain why, and explain why not the wizard heir. they both are really good books, i've read a few pages of each. which ones should i read? thanks everyone. i don't mind lengthy answers. thanks! -Justin
